"Facing the Tiger" is part of a triptych (set of 3 works) which also includes 'Facing the Stars and Lions' and 'Facing the Moon. It is inspired by Henri Rousseau's paintings, especially the Sleeping Gypsy and references confronting our wild nature and to not be afraid of it. The gaze in this artwork plays an important role as well with the tiger seated in a very prominent way looking you straight in the eyes in a captivating way, as if they have seen you and then maybe you are becoming part of the artwork.
